Congrats to both Sean and Fitzy in the continued battled to be the GOAT.

and don't forget that's Thornley's 3rd win in a row, so well done to him too.

I remembered he won last week but didn't realise he'd managed a hat-trick. Well done to him.

It's a good idea guaranteeing the winner a Futures WC but when there aren't enough Futures on the schedule there becomes a bit of a problem. I wonder how long Sean is allowed to keep them in the bank before he has to cash them in and how long until they expire??

Why is Chris here rather than at Tipton ?    Tipton courts really slow or what ?

Eaton really is playing British Tour in Sutton despite Tipton being on. The only reason I can think of is that he thinks he'll get an easy title and more money than he was likely to get in Tipton, and perhaps he needs that to fund himself on the tour.

Just trying to think, £750 if he wins this.

I think thats about the same as a finalist if he'd played Tipton

Wow -Shock Defeat in the Final!!

(8) Nicholas Lester bt (1) Chris Eaton 7-6(1) 3-6 7-5

Very bad result for Chris :(.

He cant keep losing matches he really should be winning by far. ( Luckily though this doesnt really matter rankings/ career wise).

We dont know exactly what happened but it really is unacceptable for Chris to lose to these players :/.

Onto Bath...

It goes to show, really how inconsistent Chris can be, on his day, he can compete with Top 100 players.

But today we see the bad end where he's losing to a 3.1 without a ranking.

Maybe spud means Eaton tends not to get hammered by top 100 players and he has actually beaten a grass court mug in the top 100, though not the one folklore would have you believe. The top 100 players he has faced are:

2008 Nottingham QR2 - Garcia-Lopez WR 90, won 4 & 5
2008 Wimbledon L64 - Tursunov WR 33, lost 7-6(2) 6-2 6-4 (*)
2008 Metz ATP QR2 - Stakhovsky WR 87, lost 6-7(6) 7-6(2) 7-6(6)
2009 Ramat Hasharon L16 - Lu WR 67, lost 3 & 5
2009 Queen's ATP QR1 - Stakhovsky WR 93, lost 3 & 5

(*) Pashanski wasn't just a grasscourt mug, he wasn't ranked in the top 100 either (WR 114)

Anyway, today's result was a shocker, for sure, but well done Lester, what a week for him - I bet he didn't expect to win the £ 750 when he saw his draw biggrin

More about Nick Lester, Eaton's conqueror today - he is a 32-year-old who reached a career high of 1220 back in 2001 but stopped playing Futures a year later. He once thrashed that other Brit who got massively overhyped after a fluke grass court run but never realised his full potential (yes, that'll be Flan the man) and once took a set off Miles MacLagan.
