Looking ahead, if we win our group, there is only Slovenia and Romania in the other groups that I can see us losing to, and Romania have already lost match and if they don't get through I don't think we will meet Slovenia because of seedings.
Obviously I'm looking waaaaay to far ahead though.
Erm ... they've dropped an on form player who's beaten Mayr in a slam recently for a player whom Mayr made cry (indirectly at least) at Wimbledon last year? I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye, but I hope they know what they're doing!

Weird decision obviously they would have liked Anne to have played yesterday but she couldn't because of the six month rule. I hope we haven't scored an own goal here.
2*5 Anne getting break points but as at Wimbledon Anne is getting outfought by this feisty Austrian. Clearly on your first match back you are not going be as strong mentally as you would be with a few matches under your belt.
This is a shocker and Nigel's choice is clearly indefensible. All of Anne's quotes prior to this match have basically said that she believes it will take a month before she is match tight and 100% comfortable with the knee. Due to Nigel's close involvement with Anne in a coaching sense Anne was picked for this tie. She shouldn't have been and most certainly shouldn't have been chosen for this match. Of course it was no certainty that Katie would have won either as Mayr might be one of those players that finds a bit extra when playing for their country.
But he was right then, under normal circumstances you would, but the H2H history, the fact Katie is in really good form at the moment and has been showing much better mental strength in matches this year and the fact that even Anne herself didn't seem to think she was ready. I didn't think there was a cat's chance in hell that Anne would be selected ahead of Katie for this rubber and the way it's turning out is making Nigel Sears (usually so competent) look worse at team selection than JL, and that's saying something.
There must be more to this than meets the eye, surely, e.g. Katie having picked up and injury and/or Anne being determined to get revenge for that Wimbledon defeat and convincing the management to let her play this match. All so very, very wrong - though if she comes back in this match from a set and 0-4 down, I'll be delighted to be proved completely wrong!
