It is pointless really, because you can get super strong teams from any seeding group in this thing, it doesn't really matter. Looks like Belarus are going to be a weak seed next year.
In the first match v Netherlands Anne has come from 1-4 down in the first set against Chayenne Ewijk, failing to serve it out at 5-4 and 6-5, but then taking the tiebreak 7-5.
Katie went 5-1 down in set 3, saved matchpoints at 5-1 and 5-2, pulled back to 5-4 only to lose on the 5th matchpoint
GSM Rus 7-5 3-6 6-4
Shame for Katie as all her previous Fed Cup singles matches have been against players considerably better (lost) or considerably worse (won) and this was the opportunity to show she could beat a similar level opponent in Fed Cup
Another puzzling selection pairs Katie with Sarah, and they have lost the first set to Thyssen/Hogenkamp 6-2. Perhaps Nigel Sears wants to see Sarah play with all possible partners for future reference.
