I thought I would draw Maza 1987 attention to the fact that in the predictions thread in the Mens section he has predicted a year end ranking of 65 for Bally, 120 for Anne and 115 for Katie. Have you changed your mind or are you just trying to cover all bases ?

Interesting to see that a lot of people think Katie will drop this year despite powering her weay to Top 100. I'd be interested to see whether Mel can recapture her form and get back into Top 100, and if Naomi B can push on from her good end of season form.
IMO for Katie to have a successful year she needs to have had a positive offseason either becoming physicially stronger/fitter or by making improvements to her game. The player who finished this year will struggle to maintain her ranking without improvements. I say this because she had no breakout victories i.e wins against top 50 players and gained her ranking through consistency in lower grade tournaments. Last year she gained 160 ranking points by qualifying for slams. This year without quali wins she will be reliant on kind draws in the first rounds of slams as she will be a direct acceptance. If she doesn't get them and she fails to improve I am worried about her ranking. Saying that the previous offseason provided a major boost for her so nothing can be ruled out. I wish her the very best.
Katie has only had 2 top 100 wins all season, and hasnt had any impact at WTA level. She has had 8 wins, the majority of which coming in GS qualies though rather than in main draws. Her attitude after losing to Benesova was promising though IMO, as I think she now goes into matches against top players believing she can win. Stepping up on to the main tour was a problem for Katie when she tried it in the past, as it often is for the Brits. Anne seems to be the exception so hopefully the fact theyve been training together will rub off on Katie.
I actually think Katie's fitness is second to none among our girls - along with Georgie and Jade Windley, she stands out as one of our natural athletes, where Mel, Anne etc do not. She always looks extremely toned and will continue to gain strength I'm sure. Certainly she lacks the power of the top girls, but that's probably more due to technique - and I daresay she's doing lots of strength and speed work at present as she did last winter. Her very solid year this year will make progress difficult, but I reckon she will surprise people - she's such a 'mental' player that breaking top 100 should make a big difference. We shall see.
I would say that Anne is probably the most natural athlete of the top british girls by a long way, shes only brit i've seen out on the court who has great movement. The others all struggle a bit to varying degrees. Anne is the only one who I can see that can scrap for a point by running as many balls down as she can.
Katie, Georgie and Jade W all look extremely fit and fit to the death but do not have the best movemnet on the tennis court.
