That's true, we're losing some really unique players this year. I'll particularly miss Amélie, who's always been one of my favourite WTA players.

I'm really glad I got to see Amelie play at Wimbledon last year before she retired. Real class. Got the sense that she was the last of the old guard in the WTA so to speak. Well... sort of, Kim and Justine returning now of course.

Same liadytigress, only time i ever got to see her play was wimby 09, proper grass court tennis she played. never be another like her i'm afraid.

Which match did you see? I was at her match versus Dinara, that historic "first match under the new Centre Court roof". I really thought she was going to come through there, she was playing very well. Dinara just dug in those stubborn Tatar heels of hers. Definitely most of the crowd seemed to be rooting for Amelie (but no offence to Dinara, she came off as lovely in her post-match big screen interview and I think the spectators warmed to her because of that).

1st round v czink, poor in the set she lost but she got it together thankfully. Yeah so did i, gutted especially after she was a break up in the third but to be fair it wasn't so much a choke because dinara did up her level. i think the wimby crowd do really like amelie because of the brand of tennis she plays, serve volleyer and all and such a lovely person off the court as well.
