Has Georgie pulled out? Thats a real shame, dunno whats up with her atm but I was hoping for a ride after Wimb :(
I love Naomi's scheduling, shes hitting big events early on with a good chance to rack up some points - good stuff. She should be aiming to make FO qualies comfortably.
Georgie's ranking wouldn't be high enough so she has chosen a small event in the US for her comeback. I'm just glad she may be fully recovered from her injury.
A few changes here....Meatball gets a DA in Germany so dumps Glasgow, Jade Curtis also decides against Glasgow and heads to States while KOB picks Sydney quallies over Hobart.
From what I can see from the updated full qualifying list for the AO Georgie is on the alternates list fully 30 spots from a qualifying place. Not looking good.
I had wondered if generally there were a lot of ongoing W/D's from the qualifying list. However, if appears to have been pretty tight for Georgie getting into quallifying last year when she was ranked 216, compared to this year's 263. So, on the face of it, I would agree with philwrig that it isn't looking good if she is still at all looking to get into qualifying here.
It would appear many more eligible women choose to go for the Australian Open than in the men's case where WR 300 is generally a pretty good chance of getting into qualifying.

Laura must still be a good shout for a quali wild card but who knows. I doubt whether Georgie will make the trip. I also think it is strange that the Aussie open has only a 96 quali draw for the ladies and yet 128 for the mens and as far I know it is 128 for both sexes for every other slam.
I feel that Rogowska got a WC into Wimbledon qualies, it must surely have been on the basis that the card would be returned, since Olivia is hardly a big enough star with sufficient achievements to deserve it totally on merit.
Its great that Laura is getting all this experience at a young age, as the big stage shudnt bother her in the future, and that will no doubt help her mentality in terms of choking etc. I do think its a shame a player like Jade or Naomi couldnt get a WC though, since they are full time senior players and Laura is not.

Not sure about US and France, but Wimbledon Women's Qualifying is only 96 with 12 qualifiers, think it's been like that for quite a time.
The 96 draw of course brings down the cut off point quite a bit, but still does seem more of the eligible women prepared to go for Aus qualifying.
Never know, if still WCs available into the final week before the MD, and Laura goes a bit mad in the Hopman Cup. she might even get a MD WC

I was a bit lazy and just checked the US open which is 128 and the odd one out as the French is also 96. It still seems a bit of anomaly why the men's are all 128 draws. The vast majority of ladies do turn up for the qualis as the ranking points are so big for the first round.
