Predictable given she has had a tough week and is clearly not in top form for whatever reason. I said earlier in the thread that if she made the QF it wouldn't be a wasted trip so she achieved that goal but it was never going to be easy to travel all that way acclimatise in a limited period of time and expect to be in top form. But GB no.1 and a highest ever ranking is a decent reward. I just hope she has given herself a long enough offseason in order to fully freshen up and then get the offseason training in order to get into peak condition for which could/should be a career year in 2010. Chasing ranking points in weakish back end events is not always the best way forward although it seems a decent option.
Disappointment for Elena. But it always looked a potential banana skin unless Elena was in top form, given the Japanese girl beat Sacha Jones who recently was hoovering up Aussie 25Ks titles with relative ease and then reached a 50K final, a player definitely in form and on the rise.
She's also entered for Dubai on 14/12. I am a firm believer that players should take a decent break at the end of a season. It just seems to me she is chasing ranking points which may hinder her next year. Remember Bally does have a somewhat brittle body. I have no issue with Naomi playing at the moment because she's had a long break. I hope I am proved wrong but it just worries me. Also Cav seems to a have a strange schedule at the moment playing British tour events and now county events.
