De Gubernatis and Harkins are the top two seeds in Qualifying and they are both ranked below Naomi so I suspect she has been moved up to the main draw.

Broady starts with a win !

Naomi won her potentially tricky comeback match 6-1,7-6 at high altitude in Puebla Mexico this afternoon against the left hander Maria-Fernanda Alves of Brazil currently ranked 270 in the world. Tomorrow she will play Leonie Mekel of Holland. Naomi said she felt strong with no reaction to her hamstring.

Big chance to progress as well as she plays someone who Jade Curtis, Anna Smith and herself have all beaten so far this year.

High altidude should suit her game, with the balls flying through the air.

That's a really impressive return, hopefully it'll help set her up for a big improvement in 2010. smile.gif She's even going to end this year raked higher than she was 12 months ago, despite the long lay-off.
