Good to be getting these wins at the end of the season. Pity the Brits seem to be drawing each other this week.

L16: (7) David Rice WR 537 lost to (Q) Sean Thornley WR 823 by 1-6 6-7(5) bleh  biggrin

Great win for Sean, poor loss for David!

QF:  (Q) Sean Thornley WR 823 vs (Q) Perakiat Siriluethaiwattana (yikes!) (THA) WR 878

Surely a reasonable chance for Sean to reach the semis,  if he can but keep his momentum going... pray.gif

Edited in:  there's now only one seed left in the entire MD, Petar Jelenic (CRO/8), & he just happens to be in the same half as Sean, but in other quarter! hmm

would much have preferred Dave to come through that won, Sean better make up for it by getting past another round.

Just cannot understand David. disbelief Appears to be progressing and then comes a cropper. Glad it was another Brit he lost to (at least I think I amashamed), but... Well done Sean, now make the most of it.

right guys,
As you know im out in malaysia as well, doing as badly as i can, all be it not with the help of the draws but still going terrible.
Read a few posts on seans match against rice and think there pretty harsh on sean, yes rice might have been expected to win but thornly has been fighting his balls off in pretty much every match coming through qualis and then to the quaters. Thats a decent effort in these conditions, so being a british supporting site it would be better if you gave a less in your face bias opinion. thats from a players perspective.

Hi Fitzy. That's a very fair point. I think there's a tendency on here (and understandably so, I think) to hope the Brit who's seen as having the most potential wins any GB v GB match, unless we have a particular reason for preferring one player over the other, but it shouldn't be allowed to take away from the fact that, as you say, Sean has put in a really good effort this week to get his two ranking points and deserves the plaudits for that.

Good luck next week if you're going to be having another go.

yeah im here for the third week see if i can actually win a bloody match!!

cheers for that its just if i was on here and read those posts before i went on for my quater final match i would be a little gone, given i was GB Vs GB as you said. there is nothing to say that sean coming through qualis and getting matches had less of a chance of winning through than rice.
