Good test for Jamie. Loads of break points; but never took any. Could probably have done with one more match here to bring him up to full match sharpness at this level before the Mexico CH next week. He still looks on course for a DC singles spot next year - although he'll struggle to make the grade for the Aussie Open Qualies.

Keep your lamp trimmed and burnin'. Soon be number 2.
I wouldn't say he's struggling to make the grade. Jamie pushed Sweeting harder than most at the moment due to Sweeting's hot form. He also beat the 8th seed in the first round.
Dominic & Rylan had a relatively easy ride against Bloomers & Raja: 6-0 7-6(2). Can't say I'm all that surprised. They're a seasoned partnership compared with the other two! They face either the second seeds, Huey & Mankad (PHI/IND), or Nicholas Monroe & Izak van der Merwe (USA/RSA), in the QF, while Delgo & Fruttero take on the unseeded Yanks, Alex Kuznetsov & Jesse Witten.
Jamie will be right on the edge for AOQ - this year cut was 328 but in prior years has been fair bit higher. If he can scramble to top 300 probably enough
that's a shame for Jamie, but Sweeting is no mug right, ranked 166 was always going to be a big ask. hope he will make the AOQ cut with a favourable draw he probably our best bet for a player to make it through.

i don't know about that, boggo is consistently getting results against potential top seeds in australia, baker as yet still has alot to prove at that level

yes but Boggo has never shown he can handle the conditions in Australia, with the heat especially getting to him, i think he has a tendency to fade in matches over there. (and he's told me he doesn't like how the AO courts play either)
I think physcially Jamie will hold up better in that regard, but of cousre it will depend on the draw, and i agree JB still has a fair ammount to prove and will probably need the draw to open kindly up for him. Whilst in a 1 off match i think Alex has the best chance of taking out a seed, over 3 matches i think jamie had a better chance, purely based on the magnificent run we saw recently.
