I know they're seeded to reach the final but I bet they'll be pretty happy with the way things are going with a new partnership.
But they've only been & gone & made it - from Jamie's site:
Jamie and Jonny Marray are through to the final of the Astana Challenger after a 6-3, 6-2 win over Denis Istomin and Alexey Kedryuk. It's a strong result given the disruption yesterday, when the schedule was pushed back six hours because of rain leaking through the roof.
Speaking after the match, Jamie said: "Through to the final, which is big news. We played a solid match, and did well to make it convincing after an epic day yesterday. Going to get the biggest lunch ever right now, and sleep up a storm tonight!"
This partnership is shaping up quite nicely & the run must be doing wonders for Jamie's confidence! I don't think the other semi's been completed yet, so it's either the top seeds, David Martin & Rogier Wassen (USA/NED), or the two unseeded Germans, Frank Moser & Björn Phau, in the final. You've got this far, boys. Let's see you take the title now.
An excellent run here for the lads. Partnership seems to be gelling well.
Maybe Jamie will decide it's better to build up his ranking with this partner rather than seek out someone higher. Johnnie is a good serve and volleyer, is unlikely to attain a much better ranking in singles and would do well to cement a decent pairing in doubles. We could end up with a glut of players for Davis Cup doubles but that's a great problem to have.
Very pleased for the 2Js. 'Tis to be the top seeds in the final, Martin & Wassen (USA/NED), who had a bit of a struggle against the unseeded, Moser & Phau, finally winning 6-3 0-6[10-7]. Go get 'em boys. As expected the final is on tomorrow after the two singles SFs.
Great to see them in the final here and I'd be hopeful of them to claim the title now, and to see them continue their rise up the rankings.
It does seem that the British doubles players are having a great time of it at the moment and we could have five or six in the top 100 very soon, which is great to see.
