Yes, Ashley seems to have found a very good level of consistency in this trip.
Pity, noone else could join him in the main draw but a number of our promising juniors have again managed to play a number of matches which I do see as beneficial.
Aww, pity, I was hoping Ashley would win this one.
He has played really consistently the last 3 weeks, getting to the MD every time, when only once seeded to do so.
I know I'm one on the side of the experience of this trip as against say opportunity for ranking points ( which I do accept can help in future entries and draws ) it is a bit of a pity that Ashley has got all that experience during the last 3 weeks ( 13 matches, 30 sets ) but zilch ranking points.
I remember at the start of this Spanish odyssey that DavidC marked our card that Ashley could be the one junior to really watch on this trip ( well done that, man ), but highlighted one thing Ashley seemed to have a problem with was consistency from match to match. Well, he has certainly been consistent on this trip and hopefully he will soon be able to combine such consistency with an undoubted talent and be able to prosper at a higher level.
How generous of you Indiana Ashley has shown more consistency here than in Juniors, so it looks as if he should consider curtailing his junior career and concentrate on the Pro Circuit. He's down for the trip to the major American end-of-year junior tournaments (Eddie Herr and presumably Orange Bowl - only the former entry lists are currently out). If he doesn't get much joy there then he will struggle to gain direct entry for the junior grand slams next year, so it would be a good time to stop.
