heatherwatson92 Hi everyone, I have been suffering in silence with injury this year - playing in pain everyday since March. I have a tendon issue in my left glute which has caused me pain everyday since. And therefore had a domino effect resulting in more injures than l've ever experienced. After 17 years of playing professional tennis year in year out, without any serious injury, I count my blessings that this is the first time I have to take a (forced) break. I will be away from competing until the end of February 2026 (hopefully) to heal and play pain free again. I will use this time to spend with the people who matter most, develop in other areas of my life, and get into the best shape possible for my return. See you soon. Lots of love, Hev x
It will do her good. Harriet is another one that could do with 6 months off but, unless it's injury related and there is a PR after 6 months, it's not possible without taking a massive hit on ranking.
Good to know that she's taking the full 6 months off. Plenty of time to recover, and should come back I believe with a SR of 165 (ranking as at 08 September after US Open).
Harriet could certainly do with a break, but her ranking has already dropped into ITF levels.
