They just play the big points so well it's ridiculous, that backhand return winner from Colin to get the double mini-break was legendary stuff.
This should see them very close to the top 50 and surely the Masters Cup next year is a realistic goal, and they will go deep into at least one of the Slams.
Just love watching these two. Being a set down never seems to faze them. The differing body language during the CTB told its own story. Super s. A week off now? If so, they deserve it.
The lads just kept their game face on, showed positive energy and battled through, even though they were overpowered in the first set. They really played amazingly in the MTB and the French team crumbled.
Fantastic! The energy they brought to the court, particularly during the MTB, was immense!
Shame there aren't many more ATP events left now for them to enter. They just missed out on getting into the Basel draw. Puts them into a great position though to now be main tour regulars next year starting in Australia in January. Excellent!!
Really pleased for the guys and they played the CTB brilliantly.
Another good chunk of points, rise up the rankings and they have a great start for 2010. Hope they can kick off down under and continue to build on this.
I so wish I'd been able to watch this, sounds like the kind of match live streaming was made for!
Very well done to them. I remember that when they won Metz, we were wondering if anyone had ever won titles at ATP, Challenger and Futures level all in the same year - well, these two have now won at least two of each!
Two ATP titles in 6 weeks is amazing, as are their 15-2 overall record and their 8-0 record in ATP matches since the start of Metz.
Their consistency, the way they rise to the big occasion and the fact that they are two Brits playing together almost all the time would appear to make them the DC doubles team we've always wanted!
Edit: and reading Ken's twitter has reminded me - 3-0 against GEM pairings in ATP/Challenger Finals in the last 6 weeks

As for rankings, they are likely to be around 53/54 on Monday, I think, closing in fast on Hutch who has points coming off on Monday week, though overall they have more points than Hutch to defend this month and Colin has points coming off in December too.
They will also shoot up from 57 in the team rankings to probably just inside the top 30 - I've only just realised that the team rankings don't include events below ATP level!
