Dan Smethurst was forced to retire during his first round match with Marc Sieber (GER) at the $15k ITF event in Dubrovnik (CRO). The unlucky Brit was trailing 0-3 and was unable to continue the match due to a back injury.
Finally Alex squeezes a tight one out. These are the situations that he hasn't been capitalising on over the last few tournaments, hopefully his 'luck' has now turned.
The forecast for tomorrow is heavy rain again, which is probably why they haven't bothered to try to schedule any R2 matches for tomorrow, then light rain on Saturday and sunny on Sunday & Monday.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
When a tournament is cancelled due to inclement weather:
All players entered into the tournament - whether in qualifying or as DA acceptances - who hail from Great Britain received the sum total of the available points as a reward for having a terrible national association and a wet climate. (n.b. the highest ranked of any such players receives any remainder points if there is an odd number of points to be awarded.) (n.n.b. In the event there are no British players in the event the whole points total is transferred to the British player in the nearest geographical main draw. Where this means two or more players the poits are awarded to the highest ranked.)
So I think -
Morgan, Alex Ward, Smethers and Rambotas all receive a cut of 117 points
