Oudin withdrew but Kremer took the spot. I don't know how the system works obviously not on current ranking.
This is how the system is supposed to work:
"The criterion for determining Lucky Loser status is determined first by the highest ranked players (in descending order) who have lost in the final round of Qualifying. (The ranking used to determine the Lucky Loser order is the same ranking used to determine the Qualifying seeding)*. If more Lucky Losers are required, the same procedure is followed for players who have lost in the second-to-last round of Qualifying, in descending rank order.... * A players Special Ranking may not be used to determine her Lucky Loser position or status. Only actual rankings will be used to determine a players Lucky Loser position or status."
Although Anne Kremer's SR is higher than Laura's actual rank, that should not be used. I therefore guess that Laura opted not to sign-in for an LL place, perhaps to fit in with the Mouratoglou team plans to return to Paris.
Thanks David very interesting. I see that Wozniacki looks to have picked up a nasty injury but is determined not to default at 4-0 up in the second but she has now at 5-0 . Possibly with the way that Laura was feeling another reason not to sign in.
This Wozniacki retirement seems to have caused a stir amongst the betting fraternity but she was clearly carrying a bad hamstring strain and would have had to have withdraw from her next match anyway but still a little strange she defaulted at 5-0 and not a couple of games earlier.
The betting scandal is that her father told her to play the next two games and then retire when it was 3-0.
People heard it and laid her like crazy, getting something like 100 to 150-1 odds.
I can understand that he didn't want her carrying on in this event, but to announce it like that when he knew microphones were around was pretty stupid.
