would this be the first ever top 100 win of her career?

i believe so.

Yes, a very impressive first win - she may need another to qualify, if Maria Elena Camerin wins

Yep. Well done Laura. Good stuff.

In fairness, the 'critics' will be back the next time she loses a match, regardless of who she beats on the way.

That's a tremendous result by Laura   biggrin

A fairly comprehensive win over the world no 79 is some achievement.

I note only 2 DFs the entire match, although clearly she never got into a real pressure situation.  But still that is encouraging too in such a big match for her.

Now Camerin ( ITA ) WR 100  or Stevenson ( USA )  WR 238 in the FQR.  Camerin leads  7 - 6  1 - 0* at the moment.

It will be great if she can come through qualifying into the main draw, especially if with two victories over top 100 players.

On the face of it, none are actually too bad, well relatively speaking at this level Laura seeks to intrude into  smile .  Although all are ranked higher than Goerges so it would be yet a further step up in ranking terms anyway.

Anyway, one step at a time, but it would be so good if....

I guess it could have been worse. WC Clijsters/Henin... smile.gif

WTA ranking points are surreal. Those matches could have been QR1 and R1 in a GS, where they would have gained 49 and 100 points respectively, rather than 5 and another 4.... I know context is something, but perhaps not that much.

Here's to Laura repeating that in GS therefore!
