No surprising results there.
Hopefully either Samantha or Mandy will get the 'W'.

Happy for Heather, that could have been very tricky. Makes me a litte more excited about Heather having seen bartel play.

Much better from Mandy but no reward in main draw.
Good effort from Sam.
Decent draw for Heather eventhough Sfar is in half decent form at the moment.
Lisa has a good test but still with chances.
Tough for Jos Laine is playing well at the moment.
Should be a confidence booster for Mel.
I wonder what each section of the draw looks like.

Not really the draw Mandy needed; gutted Jade's up against Naomi after such a good last week. Mel's half shouldn't be hard provided she can get past/avoid Laine this time. Good draws for Jade & Lisa who may fancy her chances again! Good luck to all.

So no Katie in the draw after all.

Any news as to why ?     Hope no real problem.

Someone probably slapped her and made her see sense.

Either that or she forgot she entered and so forgot to withdraw.

I go along with Wolf that she forgot to withdraw and that her injury is minor.

Poor Mandy, mayr of a draw, especially with mayr players about that would have offered better prospects for her.

Nice interview in the Guardian with Heather. She seems to have a soft spot for Del Potro.

Yes, I read it earlier today, good article.   I've found a link to it :

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/oct/20/heather-watson-turning-professional-donald-mcrae

I did enjoy the bits about Del Potro  smile , like at Flushing Meadows :

" Has she met him? "Nope. But, when I was in the cafeteria at Flushing Meadows he was there, eating, with his hood up and his head down. I walked very slowly then, just staring at him to see what he was eating and stuff. And then he looked up and saw me. I carried on walking then, fast, but on the inside I was going, 'Yesssss! He looked at me!'"  "

Interesting to hear her say how close she was feeling after Wimbledon to maybe giving up on the dream of a professional tennis career if results didn't pick up and probably going  to college instead.

She comes across overall though as a bubbly fun person, which is the impression I already had.  She likes the 7:1 ratio of boys to girls at her school in Florida  smile

I also get the impression that behind that light hearted exterior there is a determined young lady, who wants to go far in the game and thinks she might have a chance.
