Tara has pulled out been very sick last week and a half.
Who will get her wild card as qualifying already started ?
Of course silly me she didn't get one and she withdrew yesterday before qualifying.
Do all 25 tournaments have only 2 qualifying rounds and 8 qualifiers ?

Good result for Ruth Seaborne. Seems Nicola George had rather a false dawn.

Hopefully Barthel is not on Shrewsbury form. But even if she is Heather can still take her.

Gerlova beat Ren 7-6 (7-5) 6-2
Laine beat Boczova 6-0 6-2
E Mayr beat Parish 6-1 4-6 6-2
J Mayr beat Farey 6-1 6-1
Smith beat Khan 6-1 6-3
Watson beat Barthel 6-1 7-6 (7-3)

Good performance from Watson. Great first set performance with three service breaks. Barthel was making several unforced errors. She is a strong hitter but was struggling with consistency highlighted by the last game of the first set where she was 40-0 up through 3 stunning points but then lost the next five points including a double fault at the end to lose the set 6-1.

However, Barthel came back into it in the second set and actually served for it twice at 5-4 and 6-5. Watson managed to take the set into a tiebreak and played well throughout, including a stunning point at 4-2, to take the match.
