Katie played Alexa in US Open qualifying last year, and lost in straights (one of those matches which the legendary Ken from Radio Tennis commentated on - and it wasn't one of Katie's best performances). Hope it proves not to be a repeat, like the Savchuk rematch turned out to be.
A good win against an opponent at a similar level - the serving stats being un-Katie like (5 Aces, 1 double and 71% of points won on second serve). With nothing to defend before the Australian Open now is the time to try to push on before the pressure of point defences needing to be made.
From the LTA:
"It's a really satisfying win, particularly because I lost to her last time. It also makes up for some of the disappointment of losing such a close match last week in Tokyo as well. My opponent was tough to play against because she can be very flashy and didn't give me much rhythm. I stayed tough throughout the match, though, and served well which kept a lot of the pressure on her, said OBrien.
OBriens reward for progressing to the next round could potentially see a tie against tournament No.1 seed Caroline Wozniacki, a meeting that she would relish.
I play the winner of Caroline Wozniacki and Ayumi Morita next. I'm really looking forward to it, especially if I play Wozniacki because she'll be the highest ranked player I'll have played against and I'll have absolutely nothing to lose."

Sorry to be harsh, but can you imagine Rafael Nadal, or any top player for that matter, spouting such loser bullsh*t.
