My Verdasco Cilic final was such a bad pick. I'm so embarrased. Steven, is there any chance you can blot out my winner pick on the results page! wink.gif

And of course there was the realising half-way through that this wasn't in fact an indoor masters - where I got that idea from is anyone's guess.

I would just like to say that if Davydenko ends up winning this tournament I will cry - he was my winner pick until I realised it wasn't indoors.

I was away for (another) 24 hours and came back to piles of work, so no report today I'm afraid, but I do have some 'what ifs' for you ...

Hen, the leader, has only Nole left but he's his winner. T.x has just Nole left too, but he's his runner-up. banskogirl has Rafa and Nole, with Rafa to win.

TEAM TOP 3 SCENARIOS

JM will win with GR 2nd & BT 3rd if Rafa reaches the Final as long as he doesn't lose it to Nole.

GR will win with CC 2nd & JM 3rd if Kolya reaches the Final.

In all other scenarios (i.e. Nole in the Final and he doesn't lose it to Rafa), TAT will win with GR 2nd (and CC 3rd if Floppy beats Nole or JM 3rd if Nole beats Rafa), unless Nole beats Floppy in the Final, when MTF will finish 2nd and GR 3rd.

INDIVIDUAL TOP 3 SCENARIOS

If Rafa wins the title, banskogirl (AM) will win Shanghai BOTB, with scooter (JM) 2nd and Jean-Marc (BT) edging the tie for 3rd place with Alien (CC) because he entered 66 minutes before she did.

banskogirl (AM) will also win if Kolya beats Rafa in the Final, but in that case Hen (MT) will finish 2nd and Scotsguy (CC) 3rd.

In all other scenarios, Hen (MT) will hold onto 1st place, with T.x (CC) 2nd & banskogirl (AM) 3rd if Floppy wins the title, Cloudy (AM) 2nd & T.x (CC) 3rd if Kolya beats Floppy in the Final, Portsey (BT) 2nd & Scotsguy (CC) 3rd if Nole beats Floppy in the Final or Scotsguy (CC) 2nd & Jose Javier/Buyaka86 (RF) 3rd if Nole beats Rafa in the Final.

Apparently the individual winner nearly didn't enter because she was scared she'd drag AM.com down, since she's ranked outside the top 700 and she had flu. Clearly feeling a bit funny in the head is the secret to making good picks for Shanghai.

Anyway, if you think entering Shanghai BOTB was a waste of time, spare a thought for those who spent time organising it LOL ... and then spare an even bigger thought for those poor unfortunates who organised the Shanghai Masters itself! LOL

Is it 10 retirements now? And two of the top four not even getting there makes a round dozen ...

Btw, not all is lost for BT.netters - you will actually finish 3rd and regain a place in the top 5 of the overall rankings.

.... and spare a thought for those who bought their tickets some months ago and turned up at a tournament without Federer, Murray and with so many retirements on centre court ....

Actually it was very enjoyable even so and Davydenko deserved his win. My best moment?
When he beat Novak - couldn't have been more chuffed.

It's only slightly embarrassing for the BT team that their top player was French ....
