Surely there most be another reason!!! 2 straight set defeats can't be enough to warrant him a US Challenger WC?

He did win the Jersey Challenger in March, and  err   err

I'm just not as convinced Dan's as good as some folk think he is, including possibly himself.

Although given he did indeed win the Jersey Challenger and had a good Lexington Challenger result, on both occasions beating decent players, I think there may be a bit of he isn't managing to produce the best he is currently capable of nearly enough.

There may very well be a better more consistent player there that can come out and live up more to what was expected of him.

I have myself a few months ago put him as the one real possibilty I could envisage joining Andy in the men's singles top 100 in the next couple of years, and I'd stick to that now.

Anyway, he was close to being a DA into here, so although the WC is a surprise, he hasn't been ridiculously upgraded.

He does need to win some more tennis matches though to improve or at the very least protect his ranking, and that is an unfortunate draw in that respect.

I just hope that Dan can go out and give a good account of himself.

Just cant understand why all of a sudden every man and is dog is against Dan Evans.Yes maybe is results have been a shade dissapointing, but since jersey challenger most of the players who have beat him have been higher ranked than Dan plus most have very much more experiance playing at challenger level. But dont be surprised if dan doesnt make a big push before the end of the year and pull off some big wins, just maybe starting tomorrow.

Great win, particularly after DC and all the criticism he received. Chance to make some real progress in this tournament now!

That'a tremendous win, congratulations to Dan.

Yes, its his first win over a top 100 player.  Only actually the third time he has played a top 100 player and only Davydenko at Wimbledon this year has been ranked higher.

A great way to show those who have doubts what capabilities he has   wink.gif

In my defense,  I always have said he is the one of the 1990 group that I do see as top 100 potential in the next 2 years  smile    ( I have just added buts.... )

Hopefully Dan gets real confidence from this and can bulid further, hopefully here, but certainly in the weeks to come.

I see that Ryan Harrison, the 17 yo American prospect, who beat Bloomers in last week's future final, has beaten the other seed in Dan's quarter.

Would be an interesting match up if it came to pass, but one step at a time.
