Andrew Bettles, Oliver Golding and George Morgan are in Mexico along with 15 other teams for the finals, hoping to go one better than last year's junior Fed Cup team. The other qualified nations are:
Argentina Australia Bolivia Chile Czech Republic France India Korea Mexico Morocco Poland Slovak Republic Spain USA Uzbekistan
There should be 4 groups of 4 playing in a round robin format, 2 singles and 1 doubles per tie, starting on Tuesday, followed by a knockout format to decide the final positions.
Here is a link to an article this weekend about Oliver Golding, which was included in the Mens Section by The Knight, for the benefit of anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
It is far more difficult to assess the competition at under 16 for boys than girls. While all the top girls are playing ITF or WTA tournaments some of the best boys stick to regional competition. Last year the US beat Argentina in the final, and Argentina fielded three players with modest ITF rankings (Velotti, Collarini and Arguello), who are now all in the ITF top 10. So Argentina must be regarded as potentially dangerous, and Uzbekistan apparently impressed in the Regional qualifying (though their number 1 lost to Jack Carpenter recently). Morocco looks to be a nice opener though. The seedings are decided on an amalgam of ITF rankings, regional rankings and performance in Davis Cup qualifying - so it is our relatively high ITF rankings which give us a seeding, but its a very approximate estimate.
