One quote from Laura after her doubles defeat: "I'm used to my partners getting really angry with me but Heather doesn't do that. I think we will definitely play together again."
Here is a report on Lisa's quarter-final from the local paper:
"HOPES of a surprise British place in the singles semi-final of the AEGON Pro Series Barnstaple have ended at the Tarka Tennis centre this evening. Last remaining GB contender Lisa Whybourn was beaten in straight sets by fourth seed Sofia Arvidsson.
Whybourn, who exceeded expectations by reaching the last eight, put up a decent fight before going down 6-2, 6-3. Backed by one of the biggest audiences at the Tarka so far this week, she was determined to give the North Devon fans something to cheer.
While there were occasional flashes of brilliance from the 18-year-old, she finished well beaten by the composed Swede.
Arvidsson broke to go 2-1 up in the first set and a further break put her in a commanding position at 5-3.
Whybourn failed to put away two presentable volleys in game four and made the same mistake again in game eight when she came into the net, only to slam the ball wildly outside the tramlines.
Those erratic moments left the Brit up against it, while her opponent patiently picked her shots and served solidly.
The Swede, who likes to warm-up for matches with some tennis ball keepy-uppy, showed more nimble footwork to break at the start of the second set.
Yet Whybourn broke straight back, winning a multi-shot rally with the same spirit she showed to beat sixth seed Lenka Wienerova in the last round.
When Arvidsson broke again to go 4-3 up, the writing was on the wall for the plucky Brit.
A double fault on the last point of the match was an anticlimactic way to bow out for a player who, without a previous world ranking, made good progress this week.
The lady among the appreciative crowd waving a Sweden flag will be particularly happy. "
If anyone is interested the Barnstaple website has been updated with photos and videos from local media. The videos focus on Heather and Laura and the fact the tournament is to be upgraded to a 75 next year maybe at the expense of Shrewsbury.
