Just looking at her recent results, to go from 12 consecutive MD junior losses to this is quite an achievement. Was probably unfortunate to meet an in form Whybourn in Shrewsbury, but a lot of our girls are starting to step up to the plate now.

Seconded, give or take a WC for next year's Junior Wimbledon. Some players, like Tara, struggle to get their head round juniors once they have tasted some success in Pro events, particularly if they have an aggressive game. Nicola has struggled even before this success, as pointed out.
That is a stunning result, probably one of the shocks of the year from a GB player.
"At 6 pm, there would be a sensation on Centre Court when no. 1 seed for the GDF Suez Open, Giulia Gatto-Monticone, met the British qualifier Nicola George. The early point would have left you expecting an easy win for Giulia since she seemed more reliable. But once she had got completely into the match, Nicola constantly hustled Giulia Gatto-Monticone, winning at lightning speed 3 & 2 and leaving the considerable crowd flabbergasted with admiration. What a beautiful success for Nicola who much now be considered as a very serious candidate for the title."
