L32: (8) BAKER, Jamie WR 654 v (LL) James O'Brien (AUS) WR 1596

qualifier in the 2nd round. same section as 2nd seed.

Note:  Edited to show that Jamie actually played an Aussie lucky loser, James O'Brien, in the first round, not the Kiwi, GD Jones.  I perpetuated the error yesterday by not looking more closely at the draw sheet on my screen when I updated my own hard copy, which still showed GDJ as his opponent, & simply adding the result of the match! redface.gif

Jones isn't a qualifier, but there are so many qualifiers in that section of the draw you were probably just seeing Q's  smile

The no 2 seed Statham ( NZ )  WR 373 faces a qualifier in the first round with the winner playing a qualifier or a qualifier.

he didnt say Jones was a qualifier - the winner of Baker vs Jones plays a qualifier in "the 2nd round".

Good to see Jaime stringing wins together again, its such a shame he got that illness when he did as he was getting to a good level. I hope he can get back there.
