Will the good news never end? Hope not. Plays Pospisil (CAN/8) in the SF. Should be in with a great chance of a final berth.
I'll second that, too! I nearly got writer's cramp updating my draw sheet, I was so far behind! Marcus is still going well with Pospisil in the doubles, too, & should make another final:
QF: (1) Vasek Pospisil (CAN) & Marcus Willis WR 878 defeated Giammarco Micolani & Giorgio Portaluri (ITA/ITA) WR 2778 by 0 & 0
SF: (1) Vasek Pospisil (CAN) & Marcus Willis WR 878 vs (3) Alexandre Penaud & Stefano Valenti (ITA/ITA) WR 1335
with the recent good form of our guys at futures level and at challenger level in dubs it would be easy to get carried away. its very welcome and i am excited about these successes but the challenger level guys have only had limited success. i hope these are stepping stones onto bigger things. from feaver to rice, baker, willis, morgan, milton, goodall etc its been a wide mix of players going deep rather than just 1 or 2 so that is different from the norm. the dc results over the last few years shows us how much we have to improve on the higher level of the game and we can only hope this is not just a blip but more of a maturing of our players...
Our futures singles and challenger doubles results have been, well, incredible recently. Or have we just got used to a lot less?????
Unfortunately there has to be an element of that.
Like how big news would it be for Spain / France / Germany's top 20 players to be getting successful futures results ( how many would even be playing futures ? )
But it does look as if quite a number of players have raised their games lately and there have as folk say been a lot of really good results from different players, which has to be applauded.
Hopefully some folk are feeding off the success of others and this can continue and be built upon.
As Drew says, hopefully these are stepping stones to yet bigger and better things.
