Alex Bogdanovic failed to build on a promising start as he fell to Sebastien De Chaunac in the final round of qualifying for the Metz Open.

The British No 4, who was not included in the Great Britain Davis Cup team this weekend, easily won the opening set 6-1 against the Frenchman.

But De Chaunac hit back to claim the second 6-1 and edged a third-set tie-break 9-7 to reach the main draw.

think they got things a bit muddled

It's a better 'choking' story if he wins the first set. I think they'd prefer it like that.

hello from France smile.gif yes yes there are french who likes GB smile.gif

if you want i 'll do a traduction ....

I have won the first set by 6/1.the score is not telling, because games were close. i lost concentration at start of the 2nd set after a referee 's decision a little contentious. it was hard to me to return his left-handed serve . i got 3 matchpoints at 5/4 in the 3rd set and i saved one in the tie break.
this match was very close. in the tie-break, i was not optimistic, but it's a good victory"....

thanks Breton

I spoke a bit to Alex afterwards, he said Seb served big throughout the match esp on the big points.

We like some French too (just not the players in the 'pick em's'!)

The first doubles seeds have bitten the dust in Metz (though unfortunately, they're in the opposite half of the draw to Flemski & KerrHutch):  Booty & Scott Lipsky (4) have just been put out by Rainer Schüttler & Mischa Zverev, 4 & 4! disbelief

Hutch is on court but against different opponents. It's now Korolev and Sitak

I imagine that's because Josselin Ouanna was a non-starter in the singles (injured?).

sadly not a great start for Hutch as they lose the first set 6-4 - and even that involved saving 10 BP's

Disappointing first set! hmm  That said, Korolev must be in a bit of a groove at the moment:  he put out Benni Becker (6) by 2 & 3 earlier today! bleh

Much better:  they take the second set 6-0 to level the match, then the MTB 10-4! smile  The perfect way to get the DC disappointment out of your system, Ross. biggrin
