The British-Australian duo saved 11 of the 12 break points it faced, while converting three of the eight break points it created in the 73-minute match, to rally from a one-set deficit. Hutchins and Kerr made their partnership debut earlier this year at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, where they reached the quarter-finals (l. to Knowle-Melzer). Both are playing in Metz for the first time.

Thanks for that, Smidster. I have to confess to being (not for the first time!): according to the DS, the pairings of both Ross & Jordan and Arnaud Clément & Michaël Llodra are ranked 72nd in the world, yet the latter are the top seeds & Ross & Jordan the second. Can anyone explain to me which criterion/criteria is/are used to determine seedings when it's neck & neck like that? The number of times they've played together perhaps (I seem to remember that Clément & Llodra have played together more than twice in the past...)?

Just had a cynical thought: it couldn't possibly be because it's a Frog tournament & Clément & Llodra are both Frogs... could it?
They must have finally blown away the cobwebs: they retrieve the second break to level at 5-5, then hold their own service to lead for the first time in the set: 6-5*.
