All results now on LTA website - we must remember how many light years Nottingham is away from planet earth wink

All seeded players through but Josh surprisingly taken to a tiebreak so obviously not 100% and same for Richard who lost first set to Bettles.
12 out of the 16 are Brits

Singles Results

Lol Eaton scraping through 3-6 6-3 6-3. Like we had said anything could have been possible and almost was.

Morgan pushing Fitz is a good sign from the young lad.

Bettles pushing Bloomfield is great for him- to be up there taking a set at his age against Bloomers is a very good sign.

Bettles pushing Bloomfield may be a bit of a mixed sign based on some recent events, :

i.e.  how good was Bettles, how bad was Bloomfield ?

I do though wish him all the best and it's good experience.

I went today, good day for the Brits with only two losses to foreign opposition in either singles or doubles. It was played outdoors and although it was fairly sunny to start with the wind was making it difficult for the players. The courts were pretty slow as well, making it difficult for players like Eaton and Bloomers, and to a lesser extent Goodall.

I only got there at one so it looks like I missed a great win for Bradshaw and also Pauffley's, Inglot's and Rice's wins and Bains' loss.

When I got there Bloomers was just taking control against Bettles in the third set and I concentrated on Fitzy v Morgan which was 2-2 in the third when I came. Fitzy won the next four games as he lived with Morgan who would eventually would miss or drop one short for Fitzy to punish. On the next court Cavaday demolished an out of sorts Brassington, but I didn't see too much of it.

I found Goodall playing on the hidden court (all the other four courts being used were in a line). Watched by Jeremy Bates he was broken serving for the second set at 5-4 but took the TB 7-4 against the tall, rangy, impressively named Garanganga. Good match from the little I saw.

Illingworth was possibly the most impressive player I saw on the day, scurrying and scampering to thrash the Kiwi Daniell, his one handed backhand finding the spot time after time. On the next court Pritchard never quite got into his match, just couldn't get ahead despite breaking serve a couple of times.

I wondered over to the far court and saw that Jonathan Brooklyn was two games away from a first ever ranking point at a set and 4-3 with a break up against Capone. He held twice (last one from 0-30 down) to win but Capone was looked dreadful. Rubbish, slow, serve and he had nothing on his groundstrokes. I was wondering how he managed to qualify when I went inside and saw he was ranked 948. How? Congrats to Matt though who was clearly the better player but he will get smoked by Goodall.

Thornley played the ambidextrous qualifier Rosenzweig, who hit forehands both sides with either arm. He definately served right handed in the second set but I swear he served left handed at one pont in the first set, but I might be remembering that wrong. Sean played well, he didn't do any Agassi returns like last time I saw him play but he didn't make many errors.

Eaton's volleys weren't quite as good as normal and Golding had his eye in on the pass but Golding run out of puff and after recovering from 2-0 down in the third to lead 3-2 took and injury time out for a leg injury and lost the next four games. Eaton will have to pray for rain so they can go indoors to go far in this tournament I think, particulary considering O'Brien looked impressive.

In the doubles Illy might have to learn to volley if he and Josh are to progress past the top seeds in the QF and Capone was even worse than in the singles against Bishop and Cavaday, although he wasn't really trying. Josh Gleddon and Chris Harrison played very well against Rice and Bains to push them close and they had their chances. Good win for Bettles and Morgan ahead of the Junior Davis Cup and an enjoyable win from the other Brooklyn and Jones with some proper doubles play. Arlidge and Daniellran away with a MTB against Fitzy and Pritchard.
