that's pretty unbelievable though. i cant believe anyone would have the guts to say Hewitt wasn't good enough!

I suspect a huge misunderstanding somewhere along the line.

Getting Smeets ib the QF's of a future is not a nice draw. its funny how players can seem to just go totally off the boil though isn't it??

Also from AUS, it seems like Hewitt and Tomic aren't getting on at the moment http://www.theage.com.au/news/sport/tennis/team-hewitt-fuming-at-wimbledon-snub/2009/09/16/1252780357083.html wink

i know Hewitt did make some comments at the Aussie Open, but they were nothing more controversial than "Tomic has a long way to go".

I know Hewitt's old coach Rasheed and Tomic's dad had a falling out (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/bernard-tomics-dad-bags-roger-rasheed/story-e6frexni-1111118567690) but i don't see why that changes things

Btw i like Ferrero's comment'strung up from a tree by his balls' biggrin

Great to see Jamie continuing his recent good form and I'd expect him to beat Smeets to be honest who should never have got as high as he did given his game.

Great to see Jamie into the singles quarter finals and also into the doubles final. In good form and getting plenty of matches under his belt after a tough time last year!

I was just reading about the Tomic incident in the paper today. It seems that TA don't want to upset his father too much for fear of him changing countries. Although the Herald Sun isn't the most reliable of papers!

And while we are at it, lets have a great result!

QF: (7) Jamie Baker WR 654 beat (2) Robert Smeets (AUS) WR 503 6-3 6-4
SF: (7) Jamie Baker WR 654 vs (4) Matthew Ebden (AUS) WR 435

Does this mean Jamie can start to become an Aus basher?

Good news :

QF : (7)  Jamie Baker  WR 654  beat  (2)  Robert Smeets ( AUS )  WR  503   6-3  6-4   smile

SF  : (7)  Jamie Baker  WR 654   v    (4)  Matthew Ebden  ( AUS )  WR  435

The no 1 seed, John Millman of Australia  WR 344 is still around in the other semi.

Jamie definitely seem to be finding some real form again and with only 4 points to defend the rest of the year hopefully will be climbing up these rankings again.

Edit :   Ah, beaten to it.

I really do hope for Tomic's sake that he isn't going to be another player whose progress, indeed ultimate carerer, is not truelly mucked up by a parent who doesn't know when to step back.

Super win for the Baker Boy. biggrin  A win in the semi will give him revenge for defeat in the doubles final, won by Ebden & Kadir, the second seeds, by 4 & 5. hmm  pray.gif

Good to see Jamie continuing to win and beating Smeets and that's 4 semi's in a row for him now as he is proving to be very comfortable at this level.

Hope he can take the title here now and get himself back to the challengers as soon as possible.

Millman lost a couple of times to A-Ward in March
