Difficult to grade Johanna's effort but Natasha's probably as expected.

I dont buy into the whole Konta becoming a Brit, I think she bottled it.

Well bottling it makes her even more of a brit, TBH. :D

Jo lost 6-3 6-4.
From what I can gather the earliest date she could represent GBR would be May 2011 which is obviously a long way off. I would have thought that if she has been given assurances that she is 100% certain to gain British nationality at that date she would intend to stick with her original plan otherwise who knows.
Part of the problem maybe is that she is required to spend the majority of each qualifying year in Britain which for an international tennis player is just about impossible. Whether there is a loophole around this I don't know.
Certainly Groth of Australia has met this problem in her quest to represent Aus in the Fed cup.
She is now in the position where for the slams she can represent Aus but for the rest of the year she is a Slovakian in the eyes of the WTA.

Oh right, why has the date been pushed to 2011? Thats not too bad, its only one more season and the first few months 0f 2011. She could be looking for a WC into the OG? :P

There was an article about her potential switch to GB straight after her final appearance at Sutton earlier in the year.

Perhaps it'll be quicker if she got married.

Any takers?

Well from what i've read Johanna is based at the NTC in Roehampton so i hope thats a good indicater. She'll be another great steal from the aussies if we get her.

FED cup in 5 years or so coule well be Laura, Johanna, Naomi C, Heather W and Tara? With most of those top 100 and beyond.

Nice thought, for sure, though I dunno if Naomi is ever gonna get serious about tennis! And Konta seems dodgy to me - I dunno why I dont trust her switch story haha. Im sure she would be encouraged by a QWC into Wimb 2010? :P

Just a note to say that I saw a post from Miss Borwell on the GB site which suggested that Jo has not had a change of heart so good news there.
