Yeah well Quebec is about as week as a WTA event can be - 4 top 50 players :o And Petrova leading the pack - shes no Williams. Why on earth havent more of the girls headed up there with Katie!?
Mel puzzles me greatly. She has pretty much spent her whole year training, isnt entering hersef into a lot of events and still has a hell of a lot of defending to do... Shes gonna have to start building back up next year but she may not even get into AO qualies at this rate! Her DA into the MD last Jan seems like a distant memory.
On a positive note - it looks like both Naomi and EWS will be using the week Aussie ITF events to break a target (ie Like Mel w/ AO MD) and should both be looking for the top 200 and AO qualifying :)
Edit: Naomi withdrew yesterday. Good luck to Emily - the only British woman capable of decent scheduling it seems. Why am I not surprised after Naomi headed to the states and missed the cut of every single event!?

Oh super, thanks for that - apologies for my rant. I do get frustrated with players who have loads of talent and either choose very strong events or totally random locations (eg Katie in her globe-hopping days) but sadly when some make good choices they are constantly rewarded with a crap draw :(
That said, isnt the cutoff for Quebec in the 300s? Surely both Georgie and Naomi should already be in if they entered?
