ok saw the last two sets of today's match. Flembo looks a lot more athletic than i remember, he's bulked up a lot. At the back of the court he was striking his groundstrokes much cleaner and harder than Bloomers, who was mainly sticking in the points long enough until he had a chance to charge the net (and doing an ok job of it).
Bloomer's backhand is much more reliable than i remember, and hitting his serve very nicely until the final set, when Flembo started to read it more.
Despite this, Colin was the superior at the back of the court. The main things letting him down were his serve, which went from good patches to being really erratic, and also his volleying wasn't as brilliant as Sheddie mentioned it was earlier in the week (Bloomers may even have been slightly superior at net today), though he did come up with some real gems. He also hit some baffling unforced errors when he was in control of the point, which seemed to bemuse him as much as me.
Overall, i think a fair result in the end
lol yeh, and next time ill remember to offer to text somebody the scores - lucky Sheddie was the only one who got them today!

Yay s Bloomers picks up his first title for a while, albeit in the doubles at the Cumberland Club: he & Barry Fulcher beat Brooklyn & Inglot by 3-6 6-3 [10-4], B & I having earlier seen off Bains & Rice (3) 1 & 2!
Looks to have been a match worthy of the final. I'm rather surprised with the ease Brooklyn and Inglot beat Bains and Rice, unless the latter pair weren't trying!
Probably not a big surprise that Fleming got the win today, but it sounded like a decent match.
Perhaps the right result as Fleming isn't going to get many chances to get the ranking up while playing doubles, so he needs to take advantage of these events.
Should claim the title now which will be great to see.
Shame Fleming can't play qualifying at St Remy now but good to see him reach the final
Would be touch and go, but he probably could just about make it if he wanted to.
St Remy sign up won't close until tomorrow evening as second week of the Slams, the challenger qualifying doesn't start until Sunday and the main draw until Tuesday.
Great to see Colin claim the title and should give his singles ranking a bit of a boost.
Won't get many chances to get points in weak futures events, so he had to take advantage of it when he got the chance, and hopefully he can take the confidence from this into challenger qualies.
