QR1: Dan Evans WR 304 v Julio Silva (BRA) WR 195 - Wednesday
QR1 opponent: age 30, CH 155 in 2005. Won the Belo Horizonte Challenger (on hard) earlier this month but tends to do far better in Brazil than elsewhere.
H2H: 0-0, Silva has never played a Brit in singles.
Also in this section: (q22) Kevin Anderson (RSA) WR 148 or Estrella then (q5) Josselin Ouanna (FRA) WR 103 or Minar, Gaudio or Reister.
QR1: Alex Bogdanovic WR 226 v Alexander Peya (AUT) WR 259 - Wednesday
QR1 opponent: age 29, CH 92 in 2007. Reached R3 of the USO in 2004, his best performance in singles in any slam.
H2H: 3-1 to Peya including the 5th rubber in DC last year when Boggo was hampered by an injury - Alex gained revenge in the Manchester Challenger this year so won their last meeting and Peya has lost his last three matches starting with that one.
Also in this section: (q6) Frank Dancevic (CAN) WR 104 or Meffert then (q21) Stéphane Bohli (SUI) WR 144 or d'Agord, Soeda or Witten.
QR1: James Ward WR 202 v (q18) Harel Levy (ISR) WR 138 - Wednesday
QR1 opponent: age 31, CH 30 in 2001. Played in the USO main draw in 2000-2 but only won one match in three attempts - also 1-3 at the AO and Wimby, 1-4 at RG. Beat Boggo 4 & 5 in the Binghamton Challenger two weeks ago and eventually reached the semis. Won Lexington Challenger too and is in his best form for years since upsetting Andreev and Kunitsyn in the DC World Group QFs last month.
H2H: 1-0 to Levy, 4 &2 in Israel F5 QF in 2007.
Also in this section: Fleishman or Kukushkin then (q14) Nicolas Mahut (FRA) WR 127 or Lapentti, Felder or Venus.
QR1: Josh Goodall WR 244 v Guillermo Cañas (ARG) WR 175 - Tuesday, 4th on C4 after 16.00 BST (approx. 21.00 BST maybe)
QR1 opponent: age 31, CH 8 in 2005. Reached R3 of the USO in 2004, three QFs at RG. However, he hasn't played on hard courts since Miami and is on a 7 match losing streak on hard courts since beating Kindlmann 7-5 in the 5th in R1 of the AO.
H2H: 0-0, indeed Cañas has only ever played 5 Brits - 1-0 v Lee, 1-0 v Cowan, 5-0 v Tigger, 0-1 v Muzza.
Also in this section: (q16) Alex Bogomolov Jr (USA) WR 133 or Devvarman then (q26) Alexandre Sidorenko (FRA) WR 153 or Strode, Janowicz or Stoppini.
I think Josh's court may be the one that Ken on www.RadioTennis.com is covering.

none of those are particularly nice, Evo with the best 1st match but after that its going to be tough fo them all. Boggo probably has the best shot, esp as Dancevic can blow hot and cold and only just beat him at queens earlier this year. How is Canas playing right now? maybe Josh could find his way through that section, seeds 16 & 26 is about as good as you can get

Canas is having a horrid year, after starting the year at 77 he's slipped over 100 places down to 180. He hasn't won a hardcourt match since the Australian Open although and seems to prefer the dirt.
His losses on HC have been Kunitysn, Querrey twice, Gooch, Veic WR255, Fernando Gonzalez an beat Kindlmann WR 229 in 5 sets

Nor would I, but he should be basing it on how they've done throughout the last few months, not a single event where the luck of the draw plays such a huge part.

I have just checked the order of play and it seems that Josh is no longer playing Canas, as it suggests he will instead take on Igor Sijling WR 305, surely a massive relief and chance for Josh to at least win a match here.
