I'm as confident as I can be that Bally will qualify.

Well done girls. clap.gif Good comeback by Laura after a shaky start and an excellent work out for Bally. Fingers crossed Mel can carry on the good work and make it three into the next round from today's efforts to join Katie O'B.nod.gif

Very impressive from both, and pleased to be wrong about Laura's chances. It's a good scalp (she accounted for Michelle Larcher de Brito in her first Grand Slam qualifier last year) even if it leads to no points. So we now have a battle between two former (and in one case hopefully future) junior world top 2s. Kapros hasn't achieved as much as you would expect from someone who was a top junior at a young age, but has been blighted by injuries.

Hlavackova is primarily a doubles specialist so Bally, who appears to have thrown the North American monkey off her back, should be able to make final qualifying for the second successive year.

the other seed in laura's section, 7th seed, is also out, so fingers crossed, but still one match at a time

I think Laura will be alright in terms of the rules.

I'm thinking she's only allowed one slam main draw WC and a max of three WCs altogether. (including slam qualies)

The only WCs she's got this year are this one and Wimbledon. (I think)

Cracker from laura.
Good to see Bally winning easy.
Hope Mel's training block pays off.
