The table at http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=236674 (which seemed to suggest earlier in the week that Zahlavova Strycova had gone out in qualifying, hence what I said above, but now shows her as having reached R2 of the main draw) shows her and the six players mentioned by Elliott ahead of Elena, but Kerber was already ahead of Elena after the fqr, when Elena was provisionally 94th.
So, Elena is now provisionally WR 100 but still under threat from Mattek-Sands (Venus should take care of her in R2) and Clijsters.
So, for Elena to be ranked 100, we have to hope that Venus takes out Mattek-Sands, Clijsters goes out before the QFs and nobody else close to the top 100 manages to sneak in under the radar by doing well in an ITF event this week or next. Nail-biting stuff.

Although Mattek-Sands lost today Bally's chances of remaining at 100 appear slim, as according to that table Martic, Perry and Rodionova can all overtake with one more win. Shenay Perry in particular has a decent shot, given that her opponent Kateryna Bondarenko had a long, dramatic match against Ana Ivanovic yesterday.
Even if all 3 lose and Clijsters fails to make the QFs there are a few down for the 100K event in Biella next week who can overtake, unless they get stuck in the US Open doubles events.
Ah, now I realise what was misleading me about that table, the thing that originally made me think Zahalavova Strycova wasn't a threat and made me miss the threat from Martic, Perry and rodionova. I thought the red highlighting in the third to last column meant that a player was out when in fact it seems to mean that they played in qualifying. In that case, it is looking pretty bleak for Elema's chances of finishing the USO in the top 100.

As that bitch Rodionova is about to overtake Bally in the rankings, I thought I'd post this link to a youtube video of her playing Poutchek. Who's the biggest bitch?
Just got home in time to see the last point in Rodionova's match, which indeed ends Bally's chances of top 100. Sadly Sabine Lisicki twisted a leg on the match point and looked to be in severe discomfort.
lisicki slipped and seriously hurt her ankle on mp. rodionova instead of seeing if she was ok clapped herself, signed autographs, interview etc. before leaving court alone.
Rodionova is good though - and look at Shvedova, she is a great player too and she was ballys FQR opponent at the French. Flipkens - who Bally played at Wimb, is into R3 now vs Kim. Bally always seems to draw tough players who look easier than they are on paper :(
It's looking good for Bally, just one or two wins in Shrewsbury next week will see her debut in the top 100. A good run from Katie in Shrewsbury and we could have 3 GB girls in the top 100 in a weeks time!

Bally has 14pts to defend next week so she may need 3 or 4 wins. The same for Katie really. Its exciting times as long as they dont just duck over the top 100 line but push right through like Anne did.
i think bally is more likely of the 2 to push on like anne. i'd say katie is more likely to do a dip job but maybe FINALLY cracking it will settle her nerves and she will feel like she belongs.
