Great fightback from 3-0 down in the second, but having been 4-0 up in the final set and having served for it at 6-5, it's a match she definately should have won (having also served for set 1 and had a set point on serve in the tiebreak)
Maybe experience told in the end, but not good to lose from the position that she did, and that serve appears to have completely gone in the final serve, with her serving 13 double faults (so giving away 2 points a game on serve), and looks like it will need some work.
A great chance to qualify for the main draw here for her which has slipped away, but I guess she'll learn from it and know what she has to do next time.
I'm afraid nerves got the better of her. Clearly by far the better player as well. She loves to come from behind but when you are 4-0 30-0 up players with more experience would have seen it through. Overall far more positives than negatives. She probably needs to learn how to put a bit of slice on that second serve when she gets a little bit nervous.
Aww, real pity for Laura after being 2 breaks up at 4-1 in the final set.
Just looking in on and off at the live scores it does look as if quite a lot of double faults crept in to her game near the end ( as was suggested I am sure she was behind in that earlier on ) and experience seems to have won through.
Still, she fully justified her WC by getting so close to a main draw place and I alrady see signs that she is simeone who learns from experiences and set-backs and continues building for the future ( reminds me of someone )
I feel really deflated after that. I did think she was going to do it. Not to be, but should stand her in good stead for the Juniors. Fingers crossed for Bally.
So Laura did still win more points overall by overall winning some of his her service games easier than her opponent.
Yes, I haven't seen her since Wimbledon, but she does lack slice on second service and that can't help when she gets nervous. I am sure that is something she should be able to develop and indeed her serve is a potential weapon in the long run, especially as she physically develops more.
im not actually that sad about Laura, she's so young it's difficult to be sad when you know she has many oppurtunities to come - especially compared to someone like Boggo this week, who had a big chance to make the US Open main draw and really achieve something
