This is what Fleming said about his shoulder last week, so it makes sense not to risk it if you've got other options for DC:
"After a great break at home which included working on my golf game and taking in an amazing U2 concert at a packed Hampden, Im now down at Roehampton to get ready for a big push this autumn. My shoulder is still not quite 100% but is not bothering me when I play so Im able to train on as well as off court. Coming up tournament wise Im playing singles only at the Cumberland futures followed by singles and doubles in a challenger in St.Remy, France and then another singles only week at the Nottingham futures. Really looking forward to focusing on my singles game and to a successful last few months of the year"
I think Andy has a point about building team spirit, but I think you can do that by keeping the same group/squad of ATP/challenger players together which we've now got it looks like. I'm not sure making Dan Evans the firm no 2 for the foreseeable future is a good idea as that blocks the others from pushing for it and brings up this wole LTA favourites/does Andy run the team crap again. However, Andy rates him and he does know his tennis, so maybe let's see what Dan can do, he's definitely ambitious enough, but I've not been impressed with any of his ATP performances over the last 2 years - he's been very casual.
John Lloyd currently on Radio 5 Live along with Ross Hutchins and others in a tennis discussion.
No great surprise that Lloyd has confirmed Murray and Hutchins as definites and that Skupski is really around just for experience and as a left hander hitting partner. He said the other three are viewing for the two remaining places and wouldn't be pushed that surely Evans will be in the final four.
No great surprise either that Ross described how great a Davis Cup captain Lloyd is

Is it me or is that just not a bit too matey?
I mean you wouldn't expect Fabio Capello to come on a show with David Beckham, or Andy Flower to come on a show with Kevin Pietersen, or Martin Johnsen to come on a show with [insert name of England rugby player who I couldn't care about] .
It got more matey, Andy turned up to check out what his mate Ross was saying
Some of their banter about dances and forfeits and stuff was arguably pretty childish but did to me highlight what a great relaxed team Andy has around him. They put in the work but know how to allay some of the presssure.
As an aside I do get impresssion Ross has become a more fundamental part of the Andy team and is main hitting partner. To the detriment of his own doubles play ?
As for Lloyd, I think my some of my views on him as Davis Cup captain are documented

"Comments about Dan Evans, the British tennis player, were wrongly attributed to Colin Fleming in our report (Davis Cup ban has Brown and LTA poles apart, September 4). We wish to make it clear that Fleming, who made his Davis Cup debut against Ukraine last month, has never said anything about his fellow player in this context and we are happy to set the record straight."
If he picked up and used any of it, I'm very unimpressed - that's seriously unprofessional jounalism. A simple check on Colin's website would have found the actual quote was used in full. Does he not understand the meaning of speechmarks and the difference between first and third person, plus written by someone on a forum!!
In my post earlier - the quote in speech marks was copied from Colin's website, in response to other people's comments about whether Colin should be picked if he was injured or not.
The second para was my ie Mac's opinion/comment on what had been written about who else should be picked - which is why it starts: I think .... That'll teach me - results only in future.
wow that is random OEM must read our comments...im surprised he didn't quote Steven's comment about him being "a journalist worth reading" or something along those lines
