i agree with FD an early loss wouldn't be the end of the world (as long as it doesn't knock his confidence)

with a likely line up of Levy, Matosevic then Istomin this is one hell of a tough event for the points on offer.

Col & Ken may have lost in the singles qualies, but they're the second seeds in the doubles (their combined ranking now being 214, according to the draw sheet, compared with 99 for the top seeds, Rik de Voest & Scott Lipsky). smile.gif They take on Carsten Ball & Kaes van't Hof (Oz/US) in the first round.

Wonder why Lipsky isn't playing with Booty? Perhaps last week's defeat when they were top seeds in Vancouver has done for the partnership! Our boys should have another good tournament, I hope.wink.gif

Perhaps Booty fancied a week off, or he tried to make the cut in Montrael and failed.

Flemski have a tricky looking opener, but should be able to get through it, and hopefully have a good chance of adding another title to their collection.

Matosevic retired, fortunately for Bogman. the guy he was playing is a wildcard called Strode who recently deferred acceptance into Harvard Law School

So if Alex can beat Levy then he'd expected to make the QF's here. a big incentive there.

would be funny (not haha funny mind) if Alex won, but had to retire so Strode makes it to the QF's - would be like hey, who needs Harvad!

You could say that prospective Harvard student Strode into R2 unhindered.

With Matosevic retiring, it does give Alex an incentive to get through his match against Levy as it see him have a great shot at another quarter final.
