Flemski lose 11-9 in MTB!  Good effort by the lads.  Onwards and upwards to Binghampton now I guess ...

Still think they should be picked for DC, good fun to watch and great energy.  Would really get the crowd going in Liverpool!

Congrats to Boggo ... keep on trucking dude!

Great effort Colin and Ken.
Maybe a play off between Flemski and Jamie M / Hutch could decide Davies cup dubs ?
For Liverpool Flemski would bring a great atmosphere

Its a real tricky one because I think atm Hutch should be a shoe-in. But he doesn't have a partner. Then Flemski roll up as a great partnership but with not quite the track record.

If we can win both opening singles I tihnk Lloyd might play Andy and Hutch to try and close out the tie.

Keep on going Alex :) good efforts these last few weeks!
1 Sf & 2 QF's whilst carrying a injury is a very good return. maybe in some way the injury is helping Alex focus?? as he is coming through tight encounters.

Depending on how he is feeling Bubka should be winnable, only 1 seed left - Baggy - prob in the SF if Alex makes it, although both Dent and Malisse are lurking in the bottom half.

So good to see Alex back to winning ways despite an injury.

A shame that Flemski came out on the wrong end of a MTB for once but they are still having a great run of form.

As for Davis Cup, I don't think they're quite at the level where we can justify a full doubles team, I know Colin can play singles but he's not quite good enough to give him a place before Goodall who can also do both and is higher ranked in the singles. Also, whilst Hutch is having a bad patch, he's still so much higher ranked than either Colin or Ken. I'd love to see Flemski at the Davis Cup but I think next tie is a bit too soon.

Boggo for DC!

Let Boggo play Kubot and Goodall/Evans play Janowicz

Oh no, don't you start!

lets give Boggo a break from the DC eh. let him focus on singles, get himself back up inside the top 150 then maybe we can look at it.

DC wise Boggo is on a hiding to nothing, esp against Poland.

Two matches in a row now where Boggo has saved match points which is great going, especially given the injury and his previous record in tight matches, which seems to be something that he is putting behind him.

Normally you would fancy him to beat Bubka, but obviously it will partially depend on just how fit he is.

Shame for Flemski to lose and break their run of challenger finals, but I guess they were due an early loss somewhere, and it is the kind of match they need to be winning if they do want DC selection.

The biggest problem with selecting them for the Poland tie is that if you presume the Poles use Frystenburg/Matkowski, then the chance of Flemski beating them isn't that high, and thus if you pick a specialist doubles teams that doesn't have much chance of winning, you're leaving yourself short for singles. If we were playing someone who didn't have a recognised doubles team, then Flemski might be a good selection, but as we aren't, we cannot afford to pick them for the Poland tie.

its ok, i forgive you, its easy to get carried away with boggomania biggrin.gif

i'd love for Alex to be playing DC regularly, and playing his best tennis on the occasion, showing the public at large what he is capable of. but right now i'm not sure it the best time to re-introduce him. However if JL does come asking then i think Alex would agree to play.

Whenever I've watched DC, and seen JL sitting next to Alex at the end change intervals, my heart just sinks and thinks: having JL there is so not helping Alex.

Just look at it from Alex's view. This man, who is trying to encourage me and help right now, is the one who has no confidence in me. That history means JL just can't mentor Alex courtside.

Can you have a sub coach?

The match before Boggo's finished about 10 minutes ago, so I imagine he & Bubka will be knocking up by now.  Trouble is, we've no Tim to provide any kind of commentary this evening & there's no guarantee the official Twitter feed on the OB site will provide even irregular updates... hmm
