I don't think Bye wins many matches.

No, Mad's right - the bye does have a woeful record, at least when playing as a man, but did once win a match for a W 1 L 4477 record in singles. The bye has W 0 L 3117 record in doubles, but does have a doubles career high of 1430 on 26 Jun 2000! smile.gif

See http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/By/N/NA-Bye.aspx?t=mr if you don't believe me! smile

My comment was of the sarcastic variety. But I like the replies.

According to Laura's twitter she won 6-1 6-2 which in my opinion is a much better scoreline than I would have expected. In fact I thought she was a slight underdog.

Well done Laura. Anna won as well it seems.

I like the fact that BYE also has a 0 from 1 record in tie-breaks.

So does anyone know the circumstances in which bye won?

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/Gu/T/Tim-E-Gullikson.aspx?t=pa&y=1976&m=s&e=0 and go down to the Sydney Indoor tournament - Gullikson managed to lose to the Bye in R1 yet still play in R2. I think the Bye was robbed! wink

It gets odder though - if you look at the Sydney Indoor 1976 drawsheet at http://www.atpworldtour.com/Share/Event-Draws.aspx?e=427&y=1976, you see that Gullikson beat A Gardiner in R1. He then faced P. McNamara in R2 and the winner of that match was T. Waltke, who wasn't even playing in it. biggrin

As if that wasn't enough, a certain K Warwick lost to C Letcher in R2 (See the bottom of the draw) and then beat the same C Letcher in R3. biggrin

Both girls lost:

Laura 6-3 6-2 slightly unexpected I would say.
Anna 6-3 6-0 not a surprise but still a disappointing scoreline.
