Well that was a bit of an anti-climax wasn't it? Another poor 1st serve percentage from Evo and at this level that is going to cost you however good the rest of your shots are.
Well that shows without Murray we are dead in the DC. Not being much of a fan of him myself i think its only Boggo who can take Kubot, but he will crack under pressure fo sure. So the 2nd singles place is still very open in my eyes.
These are the possibles from m view:
Evo- Probably most improved player this year- great experience for him. Goodall-Best player after Bogdanovic Ward-Shown he can win a challenger- prob is after his grass showing- defo prefers slower courts. Eaton- Best at loving the pressure, mentally, the toughest on big stage, but has had a crap year- except for DC. Bogdanovic- 2nd best in Britain playing tennis, near Rob Dee in rankings for mental toughness. Flemski- Should be put in the team after so much success,Flembo being handy at singles as well.
Who will get it, any thoughts yet and could someone please start a thread, i would but i dont know if any of you want it in a certain way.
Doesn't matter how well you play...if you serve at 46% and serve 12 double faults against a half-decent player, you aren't going to win matches.
Looks like a chance missed for Dan given that he was up a break in both sets, and then also served for the 2nd set, but once he was broken, he fell apart each time and you can't do that at this level and get away with it.
Can't really explain the first serve percentage by him going for it every time as he was only winning 62% on it, which isn't high enough, so looks like a very bad day on serve for him, and the rest of his game wasn't quite up to standard either.
Hopefully he can learn from the experience of playing at an ATP event and take it back to the challengers but given his performances in ATP events so far (4 games against Falla, 4 against Dancevic, 7 against Davydenko and now this against Kubot), he obviously isn't quite ready to make the leap to ATP qualifying level yet.
from his last two games you get the feeling he has potential to match these players , and at 19 there is no reason why he cant make top 100, but he has shown no consistancy, i havent seen enough of him to know if his service performances shown in his last two matches are regular for him or just bad days. we would normally look at this score without a clue about the ups and downs, anyone know if evo regularly struggles on serve?
