Week 31 - Segovia Challenger [€106,500 +H] - 2009

QR1: Jonny Marray GBR vs Raul Guardia ARG UNR

Guardia is an unranked 17 year old who lost to Orion Modebe earlier this year

Everyone's favourite wildcard Grigor Dimitrov likely awaits in round two, with 5th seed wr. 326 Ramos-Vinolas the probable opponent in the final qualifier

Good tournament choice from Jonny presuming he gets into doubles. Good points there and the money is more respectable at this level. If he can make the main draw of singles as well, the qualifying pts are worthwhile alone whilst the prize money for just the first round should ensure the trip dosen't cost him money.

Good for Jonny to get the win but the stats don't look too impressive from the match and it would be a big surprise to see him beat Dimitrov in round two.

Dimitrov had a very easy passage to round two with him dropping just 2 points on serve (both double faults) and his opponent serving at 31%.

I'd expect Dimitrov to get the win over Jonny in straight sets.

Aucks and Jonny M are in the doubles here. They are seeded 3 and due to play the Spanish pair, Iván Navarro and Fernando Vicente.

Expected result for Jonny, especially how their stats from their first matches looked.

Auckland/Marray playing their first round match at the moment.

They lead 6-3, 5-5, having saved all 9 break points they've faced, and taken their only break point chance!!!

And as I was writing that, they get a second break point and take it!!!

Auckland/Marray def. Navarro/Vicente - 6-3, 7-5.

The match is now up on the LS.  2gunsfiring.gif & pray.gif !

The top seeds, who would have been Aucks' & Jonny's opponents in the SF (assuming they beat the Slovenes - not Slovaks, h! wink ), are also out, beaten, or rather thrashed, 3 & 0 by Nicolas Mahut & ERV!
