Hah, I saw that too; "David Guez e desclassificado do torneio por ofença a arbitragem", from the tournament Twitter, if anyone speaks better Portuguese than me?!
Still...why couldn't he have defaulted a round earlier?! Sod's law I guess...
Typical GEM, waits until after he's knocked out a Brit then does something really, really stupid. If they're going to do it, they could at least do it a round earlier.
The umpire is actually called Paulinha, but even the article at http://www.tenisnews.com.br/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3188 doesn't know whether to shorten it to Paula or Paulo. Is it possible that she shortens it to Paulo to sound like 'one of the lads'? A bit like, say, a Charlotte calling herself Charlie? (I once knew one who did that)
Hard to believe Guez said that to her anyway, perhaps it got misinterpreted ...

Yes, Muzza got one a Wimbledon when I was as close to him as the umpire was and didn't hear him say anything offensive, yet the same day, Tommy Haas yelled out "nutzlose Arschloch" (useless arsehole) and got away with it - to be fair, he was talking to himself at the time.
CdJ twitter feed suggests there is substance to this story anyway: "David Guez e desclassificado do torneio por ofença a arbitragem"

The singles match before the Goody/Groth v The Brazilians has finished, so they should be starting ere long. Where's this (ING) country that Goody plays for?

Only explanation I can think of is that the Brazilians have reverted to (Portuguese) type & used an abbreviation of the Portuguese for England (Inglaterra).
And Goody & Groth finally relieve the doubles gloom: they beat the Brazilian pair 6-4 7-6(4). Their opponents in the semi-final will be the unseeded Juan Pablo Amado & Marcel Felder (ARG/URU), who earlier saw off the fourth seeds, Marcio Torres & Izak van der Merwe (BRA/RSA), 3-6 7-6(5) [13-11].

And they keep the momentum going: they're into the final with a 4 & 5 win. Their opponents will be the Brazilian second seeds, Rogerio Dutra da Silva & Julio Silva. 80 ranking points at stake here...
