On court centrale today ... absolutely no wireless connection.
Boy that was fun! Entertaining match. Crowd support was for Flemski ... maybe assisted by Tim yelling in French Canadian.
They really put it together in the 2nd set. By far the best they've played all week. Colin still suffering from sore shoulder, but he was serving a little stronger today and managed to rip a few groundstrokes. Both played some great clutch points. When they get into those fast baddabing, baddabang net exchanges, they're probably winning about 80 or 90 percent. Great stuff!
Much better 2nd set: 6-1. Will the MTB specialists do it again? Fx! 3-2*
They most certainly will!!!! 6-7(5) 6-1 [10-8].
They must surely have played themselves into DC contention with their battling efforts this week... It's only Poland, for God's sake & well worth the risk for the future!
In future, would it just be easier for Flemski's matches to just consist of a match tiebreak, as it always seems to end up there!
Great win for them and hopefully they can carry it on in the final and break the run of losses they seem to be stacking up in finals. More good points for the ranking though and it can't be too far away from the top 100 for them now.
They really do need to break the run of finals losses now. If they are to crack the top 100 - and further - then you have to turn Finals into wins. This week for example 80pts for a win v 48 for the Runners up.
At the risk of morphing into steven - they're over 100pts shy of the top 100 and with every final at $50K they're adding ~20pts, which is why it's so nail-biting. However, they are so consistent at this level now that if they can just convert the odd final to a win, they should have a chance to crack it by the end of this hard court swing.
Other than being symbolic, in singles the Top 100 more or less signals making most cuts on the tour. In doubles, roughly what sort of ranking would Flemski need to start making the majority of ATP events?
