No joy for Chris but Ghedin there Neil! - stunning result, breaking the Italian's 6-match Brit-bashing streak. He's also made Dan & Dr No's losses to him (Neil) look a lot less bad. Almost too good to be true, in fact, so I hope the BBC haven't messed up!
QF: -no Brit- (1) Martin Fischer (AUT) WR 199 beat Clement Reix (FRA) WR 724 by 3 & 2 QF: -no Brit- Charles-Antoine Brezac (FRA) WR 569 beat (6) Ludovic Walter (FRA) WR 552 by 4 & 2 QF: (8) Chris Eaton WR 530 lost to (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 330 by 5 & 4 QF: (Q) Neil Pauffley WR 1274 beat (2) Riccardo Ghedin (ITA) WR 223 by 4 & 5
SF: -no Brit- (1) Martin Fischer (AUT) WR 199 v Charles-Antoine Brezac (FRA) WR 569 SF: (Q) Neil Pauffley WR 1274 v (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 330
Today's win in his first-ever Futures QF was also Neil's first win against a non-Brit since April and will take him from a current career high of 1274 to a new one on the edge of the top 1000.

That's a great breakthrough for Neil, as he's been struggling to even qualify all year. Let's hope he's taken a while to find his game and can move on over the next few months. It will be good to be following another teenager up the rankings.
It's a real pity for Chris because he's actually 7th in terms of points earned this year I think, unfortunately if he can't get past quarters in futures consistently he's not going to get back inside the top 500.
Equally splendid wins for Tim & Dominic & Josh & Marcus in them thar doubles! I imagine Chris & Martin will see off Tim & Dominic in tomorrow's SF, but I sincerely hope Josh & Marcus don't suddenly run out of steam against Kadir & Raja, even though the latter are the second seeds...
Not too surprised by Eaton's result, but it is the kind of match he does need to win if he is ever to make it back up the rankings again and not be stuck in the 500 range for his whole career.
But an excellent win for Neil and this is obviously the week where he has finally managed to put his game together. Hopefully he can kick on from this in the future and start the charge up the rankings as he looks to have had a great week so far.
I looked through some of the match stats for Eaton's matches this year, he seems so variable. One match in the Israel run he served 95% first serves in (69 out of 72!), another soon after he served just 48%. A lot of his defeats he serves in the mid 50s, whereas on his Wimbledon run he served around 70%. If Chris wants to have any kind of success in the game, he must serve around 65-70% in every match.
Interesting in some matches where he has a very high % he only hits 3/4 aces, whereas the match against Amritaj in Manchester he hit 20 aces off a much lower percentage.
LTA twitter says it's true - "BritishTennisNeil Pauffley will meet top seed Martin Fischer in the first singles final of his career on Saturday at the $15k event in Ilkley"
An almost Wardinator moment for young Neil, I didn't think he had a cat's chance in hell of beating the defending champion today and I'm very happy to be proved wrong!

Hes hitting more aces with a lower percentage because he is obviously serving bigger in them matches, whereas he may go for a more reliable percentage serve- getting lots in but less aces.
