lol imagine the hassle he would have got if he'd lost
I hope they go back outdoors tomorrow cos it would help Chris a lot but im not hopeful

Play indoors again tommorow Knight, probably a reason why Eaton struggled today, maybe the courts indoors are to slow for him. Who Knows maybe he just started playing in the 2nd set.
Would have seen it as chance of maybe winning the tournament had it been played on the grass the whole time as only Fischer has any pedigree on the surface. Whereas now, its always an uphill struggle for Chris, would love a result from him tommmorow but everything seems to be suiting the frenchman to win it in my view, but fingers crossed. COME ON CHRIS !!!

Saying that, Ive just had a glance at the frenchmans playing activity for this year and have noticed, his last 9 events on clay, so will not be to familiar with indoor hard courts being much quicker than clay. Hes had wins over Cox, Willis and Smethurst on clay this year. But did lose to Jonny Marray 3 and 4 on indoor hard in france earlier this year, so Eaton being a similar player does actually have every chance tommorow. Hooray!!
At least Eaton got the win, but it isn't looking too great for him to get three wins in a row for the first time since Wimbledon last year if he's producing that kind of result.
I'm sure the surface change would have some effect, but not to the amount that he's needing three sets to beat unranked players with no real pedigree.
He does have a chance against Rodrigues given the Frenchman is more at home on clay, but I'd not be expecting Eaton to win.
This could be the tournament that kick-starts Pauffley's career if he can keep these results coming. Not expecting a win from him tomorrow, but beating Cox and Rice means it has been a very good week for him already.

QF: -no Brit- (1) Martin Fischer (AUT) WR 199 v Clement Reix (FRA) WR 724 QF: -no Brit- (6) Ludovic Walter (FRA) WR 552 v Charles-Antoine Brezac (FRA) WR 569 QF: (8) Chris Eaton WR 530 v (4) Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 330 QF: (Q) Neil Pauffley WR 1274 v (2) Riccardo Ghedin (ITA) WR 223
This is the first time in 6 Futures that Rodrigues has managed back to back wins but he is the defending singles and doubles champion here and Chris, who hasn't won three main draw matches since November 2007, is going to have to play a lot more convincingly than he has in the first two rounds if he wants to get in the Frenchman's way this time.
Ghedin is on a 6-match winning streak against Brits since losing to Lee Childs in 2007, including wins against Marray and Thornley on his way to winning Greece F1 last year and Slabba in 2008 as well. There was nothing much to suggest that Cox or Dr No would be vulnerable to Neil either, but Ghedin is another step up and I'd be (happily) amazed if Neil even gets close.

Thanks for the doubles updates, Stircrazy.Fingers crossed for the two guys in the singles, I hope at least one of 'em gets through. All playing tomorrow, so with a bit of luck and a fair wind more doubles celebrations will be in order.
Shame the weather is so damn foul and a grass tournament is taking place indoors!

Correction Eaton got 4 wins at Ramat Hasharon this year. 3 quals and the 1 MD win.
Yeh, Israel 07. Think what winning a future would do to Chris's confidence, it would be brill, from what we know, when Chris is confident, he plays veryyyy well.
I think the one great thing for Chris is, he wants to be there, right at the top competing with the Top 100. At Wimby last year, he said time and time again how he knew he played much better tennis when the big occasion came, at the moment, Im sure he doesnt want to be turning up to these events with no atmosphere at all and lousy money involved. But I think , if he can get it into his head he needs to play good tennis here as well thats the only way he will get up the rankings.
He put a good showing at Wimbledon, but the impressive thing for me he did, was definetily the Davis Cup this year. After the late call up for the play offs. He was able to beat Alex Slabinsky and then James Ward in a marathon, in which the end showed, he wanted it that bit more. Here he showed that he was not just all grass court.
After the selection of both Chris and Josh- I remebered how Greg Rusedski and Castle went on about how John has picked a surface to slow for them picking a medium paced court, more in the favour of a pulled out Murray than his other playes.
He pushed Stakhovsky to 4 sets on a court that suited Stakhovsky more than himself and went onto beat Marchenko, to get the only point for the Brits again on a surface suited to Marchenko more.
I also loved the fact last year he tried qualifying in the late ATP's last year: Metz,Stockholm and Lyon. Which i hope he does again this year. Being big tournaments for Chris he played very good tennis and had us on this forum very nervous looking at the scoreboard, in Metz he beat brit basher Nielsen in 3, before losing to Stak in 3 tiebreaks :O. In Stockholm he was able to beat Crugnola in 2, before bowing out to a very experienced Bastl in 3. In Lyon after being broke in the first game of the match he lost in 3 to Falla a guy ranked 127 at the time.
So, i dont know, he's the most excitinging, hungry to do well Brit to watch in my view, but unless he starts thinking about really turning up at these small tournaments and wanting to win them, we wont see him on tv again :(. So Chris start winning at this level man!! :D
I just struggle to get excited about Chris anymore after the incompetence of his performance in Wimbledon qualifying, where he must have hit about 20% first serves in
I'm sorry but if you want to make it big on the tennis scene you have to work your way through the satellies/futures and then challenegrs. If Chris can't be bothered to gee himself up enought for that the more fool him.
