Another good week for the boys, sees Tom maintain his remarkable record of reaching QF or better in every main draw this year, whilst Jack is closing in on Oliver Golding and the top 100 with his second big points haul.
Tom Allen (GBR) d. (6) Bartosz Sawicki (POL) 6-1 6-2 (12) Jack Carpenter (GBR) d. Taro Daniel (JPN) 6-0 7-5
Final (12) Jack Carpenter (GBR) d. Tom Allen (GBR) 6-3 2-6 7-6(1)
Superb tournament for the pair of them, culminating in the first Grade 2 (or above) singles title for a Brit this year. Jack should become the first 1992 boy to reach the top 100 as a result, whilst Tom should jump to just inside 150.
Jack makes his debut in the top 100 at 93, just behind Ahmed El Menshawy, who at 85 is the current top ranked Brit. He will have the option of playing US Open qualifying if he wants to (as may Oliver Golding and possibly James Marsalek/Tom Allen), based on recent US Open cut-offs.
