QF: Alex Bogdanovic WR 220 lost to (7) Marinko Matosevic (AUS) WR 199 by 6-4 2-1 ret. QF: Dan Evans WR 274 beat (8) Kyu-Tae Im (KOR) WR 208 by 2 & 4
Dan's win today should see him in the top 250 on Monday
SF: Dan Evans WR 274 v (Q) Alex Kuznetsov (USA) WR 248 (CH: 158 in 2007)
Kuznetsov was a 'ringer' in qualifying, i.e. he would have got direct entry if he had entered by the original deadline. He has now won five matches this week without dropping a set, the most impressive being his defeat of no. 3 seed Kevin Anderson in R1, though that's no better than Evo's R2 win against the no. 1 seed.
The American won the Winnetka Challenger earlier this month but went out in R2 to Devvarman in Aptos last week, which is probably why he decided to play qualifying here. Josh beat him in Rimouski last November, the first time Kuznetsov had faced a Brit since beating Bloomers in 2007, and overall his record against Brits is won 3 (Bloomers, May, Mozart) lost 4 (Josh, Boggo, Aucks, Lewis)
